My commitment to community engagement and professional service amplifies the impact of my practice-based and scholarly work, extending the reach of evidence-driven initiatives and advancing public health priorities.
Science policy
As a Child Nutrition Health Policy Ambassador for the Society of Behavioral Medicine (SBM), I actively engage with New Hampshire lawmakers and their teams to promote evidence-based decisions on child nutrition policy. By building strong, ongoing relationships with policymakers, I aim to become a key resource in their decision-making processes. Additionally, I have co-authored SBM on nutrition security and WIC’s cash value benefit.
I attended the American Public Health Association’s (APHA) Policy Action Institute in 2020 and subsequently joined the Public Health Education and Health Promotion (PHEHP) section’s Advocacy Committee. You can read my perspective on the Policy Action Institute in the APHA Public Health Newswire.
Community engagement
I strongly believe in the power and importance of local community involvement, and I strive to bring my public health background to my service work on the Seacoast and throughout New Hampshire. My community efforts earned me a spot on Seacoast 10 to Watch list in 2023.
At a local level, I serve on the Portsmouth Public Library Board of Trustees, where I advocate for health equity-centered programming.
At a state level, I am a Board Member of the New Hampshire Public Health Association (NHPHA), a leading public health voice working to champion the health of New Hampshire residents. I am currently a mentor in NHPHA’s Mentoring Program.
Additionally, I am committed to fostering the next generation of women leaders in public health and healthcare leaders through my work with the New England chapter of the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association. As a member of the mentoring committee, I facilitate professional development trainings for women in healthcare in the Greater Boston area.
Professional organizations
American Public Health Association (APHA)
Since joining APHA in 2012, I have held multiple leadership roles, currently serving as an elected Governing Councilor for the Public Health Education and Health Promotion (PHEHP) section and an appointed member of APHA’s Education Board. Previously, I served as Secretary, Communications Workgroup Co-Chair, and Scientific Sessions Chair of APHA’s Student Assembly, the nation’s largest student-led organization in public health. My contributions to the Student Assembly were recognized with the Chair’s Citation in 2020.
Society of Behavioral Medicine (SBM)
As a doctoral student, I served as the Student Mentorship and Training Coordinator for SBM and represented the organization on the INSPIRE Committee. I am currently an Advisory Board Member for SBM’s Child and Family Health Special Interest Group (SIG) and regularly contribute to SBM’s Healthy Living and Outlook publications.
